Navigation Around Ireland from Dublin

While the inner city of Dublin can be hard to negotiate around, travelling inter city around Ireland is relatively easy although the road and infrastructure quality is not up to the standard of other European countries yet. Dublin is surrounded by the M50 off which are the main roads to all the other locations around Ireland. The M50 is famous as being a traffic

Directions from Dublin to Cork
Take the N7 (junction 9) off the M50. Follow the N/M7 as far as Port Laoise where you take the N8 which will bring you through Cashel, Cahir and Fermoy before arriving at Cork. The journey should take between 3 and 3.5 hours, although rush hour times could be longer.

Directions from Dublin to Limerick
From the M50 take the N7 (junction 9). The N7 will take you through the major towns of Port Laoise, Roscrea and Nenagh before arriving in Limerick. The journey should take between 2 and 2.5 hours to make but make adjustments to the expected time if you plan to travel during rush hour or on bank holidays.

Directions from Dublin to Galway
From the M50 take the N6 which is junction 7. The N6 will take you directly across Ireland to Galway. On your way you will pass through Kinnegad, Athlone and Ballinasloe. The journey should take some where between 2 and 2.5 hours.

Directions from Dublin to Belfast
From the M50 take the M1 northwards towards Belfast. After Dundalk you will cross the boarder into Northern Ireland. Road signs and layouts will change. Follow the A1 into Belfast. While Driving from Dublin to Belfast you will pass through Drogheda, Dundalk and Newery. The Journey should take around 2 hours depending on traffic.
