Shopping in Dublin City Center
Put simply, Dublin is a shoppers paradise. With plenty of shopping centres and markets to choose from around the city you are sure to find what you are looking for. Grafton Street is by far Dublin’s most exclusive shopping street, and in truth you will find most if not all of your shopping needs in this small area. Stretching from Trinity College to St Stephen’s Green, this bustling pedestrian street is situated right at the heart of the city.
Enjoy buskers and street performers as you stroll along checking out the latest fashions or stop for a coffee and a bite to eat in the many cafés off Grafton Street and watch the world go by. At the top of Grafton Street you will find St Stephen’s Green shopping centre which gives you further choice.
North of the river you will find Henry Street Shopping Centre, while if you want to go further afield you will find many excellent shopping centres dotted around Dublin’s outskirts, such as Liffey Valley Shopping Centre, Blanchardstown Shopping Centre and Dundrum Shopping Centre.
If you are looking for a more ‘old world’ shopping experience, check out some of Dublin’s many markets. For a really pleasant afternoon of shopping in an attractive part of Dublin check out Blackrock weekend market. This market in an upmarket coastal suburb of Dublin has been attracting thousands of people since it was set up in 1996. You will find everything here from electronics to books and antiques to furniture, both new and second hand.
Or for a real taste of inner city Dublin check out Moore Street Market, just off O’Connell Street on Dublin’s north side. This colourful street is an experience in itself, even if you are not interested in buying anything.
Other popular markets include Cow’s Lane Fashion & Design Market, Temple Bar Book Market and Farmleighs Food Market.
