Driving in Ireland is generally a pleasant experience. The motorists are usually polite and friendly and usually just putting on an indicator is enough to be allowed move into another lane in traffic. While the main roads are generally of very good quality, it is important to be careful when driving on secondary roads where the quality and width may not be what you expect.

Speed limits in Ireland are enforced. If you brake the speed limit and get caught by speed traps you will be fined and will have penalty points applied to your license.

Drink driving is not tolerated in Ireland. It is largely a generational thing with older generations continuing the habit of drink driving. If you get caught drink driving by police in Ireland you will be arrested and your car taken off you. You will also get an endorsement on your license and not be allowed drive in Ireland again.
Parking Fines
Parking in Ireland is run by private companies, so if you park your car and do not pay for it or return late, you may be clamped. Parking fines will be passed on to the customer.
